• Talk about what country/region/culture is being represented on each page.  Pull out a map or globe and locate those places.  
• How are all these people different?  In what ways are they the same?
• Who can we relate to in the book?  Why?
• Is our community multicultural?  Do we know someone native to a different country?  What interests you the most about them?  What do you share in common with them?

Activity

•  Pick a greeting in a different language and use it over the course of a week.  If there is more interest, continue learning and using additional words in that language.
• Chose one country/language represented in the book and explore it more in depth.

• What kind of adventures is he actually missing out on?
• What would you like to experience or encounter in the South Pole?
• How can this apply to our lives?  Are we too busy, distracted, or unobservant?  How can we change that?

Activity

•  Over the coming week, keep a journal of your daily adventures.  The journal format will depend on the age/grade level.
